GOZIGEN-USA2009-05-12

Team 5ZIGEN competed in Super Taikyu (Enduro) round 2, in Sportsland Sugo, Miyagi, Japan, May 9 - 10.

3 practice sessions were taken place in the Saturday, May 9. 5ZIGEN NSX had brake trouble in the first session. Team had hard time to find the cause of the trouble until the last session. We had to sepnd almost all session time for trouble shooting... Team 5ZIGEN still got third in the class in the practice session.

Engineers ran to airport to receive some parts sent from Osaka. After all program of the day finished, Team mechanics repair the brake in the pit.

Mechanics practiced the tire change after fixing the brake trouble in the dark.

Super Taikyu Rd.2 is one day race, qualify in the morning and race in afternoon. 5ZIGEN NSX finished the qualify session in the 4th in the class, because we could not have enough set up time due to the brake trouble.

The race started 13:35. We have expected that drivers could catch up with rivals with their high driving skill.
Starting driver was Hiroki Yoshimoto.
He pushed the NSX and passed the car to Katsu Hiranaka at class 3rd.

However, another bad luck attacked to the NSX.
“I smell something is burning” Hiranaka reported to crew chief through radio.
Next second, his next report“no traction!”received...

Unfortunately, 5ZIGEN’s race was finished at the time.
Team 5ZIGEN NSX was DNF in the round 2 due to drive shaft problem.

We are going to fix the problem for class victory in next round at Suzuka.
