Henry Schelley Drift Class 09 Champ!!

GOZIGEN-USA2009-12-02

I got another good race report from one the FN01R-C users in time attack.
Henry Schelley of HPS Racing got 3rd place in the drift class at Redline Time Attack final round.
By this result, Henry became 2009 RTA Drift Class Season Champion!!

He has been a fine drifter in Los Angeles and a big fan of FN01R-C since he drifted with the pink RX-7 as a privateer. I am glad seeing him driving as a race driver who are supported by HPS and other sponsors now.

The chief director of the team, Hung Huyunh sent me following race report.
Please enjoy reading how Henry fought with his S14.

November 15, 2009 was the last Redline Time Attack event of the season. Utilizing the banked oval and infield at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, would require the most out of both driver and vehicle. With speeds surpassing 140 mph it would be the fastest speeds my Nissan 240sx would see the whole season.

During the first timed session, lap traffic would interfere with the driver, Henry Schelley's ability to put down a clean lap. After dodging a few Mitsubishi Evo's, Honda S2000's, Mazda 3's and Corvettes he was finally able to grab a window of opportunity. Seizing the moment, Henry put the car to work, as he planted his foot, relying on Toyo R1R Tires and AIT Aero products to keep him headed in the right direction. The car remained planted through the high speed oval where the factory speedometer was constantly maxed out as the RPM’s continue to climbing. His first time session would result in a blistering 1.59.844

Preparing for the last timed session, Henry meticulously studied the track with SCCA E-production track record holder Dave Lemons. The knowledge gained through Dave, a veteran to the track, helped Henry shave a full second off of his previous best time with a 1:57:495 on his first lap. He was on his way to set another fast time, when a Mitsubishi Evolution would catch on fire and spray oil on the track. Even with the excellent Hazard Clean-up crew at the Auto Club Speedway, the track conditions were compromised. Henry would end up in third position claiming his spot on the podium for this event and 2nd in point series for the 2009 season.

All in all, Henry & I like to thank all the sponsors who have made this season an exciting and safe season. Without your quality, race enduring products and support we would not have been able to
finish in the position that we did. We are pleased and honored to have represented your company and products.

Special thanks to Bryan Bridges, Charlie Kim, Jason Kim, Steven Chan, Quoc Ly, & Larry Chen for there help and support

Thank you,

Hung Huynh
