Exhaust Noise Test in Japan

How's everyone spending the end of the year? Some might have been enjoying vacation... We open regular hours by tomorrow, but not much things going on... No events, no race. So, I like to share some pictures from exhaust acceleration noise test in Japan.
皆さん、年末をいかがお過ごしですか？　もう、お休みをエンジョイしている方もいるんでしょうねぇ…。　5ZIGEN USAは明日まで通常営業ですが、あまりブログのネタがないんですよねぇ…。　イベントもレースもないですから。　そこで、今日は日本でのマフラーの加速騒音試験の模様をお届け致します。

In Japan, all exhaust manufactures willing to sell street legal exhausts or mufflers have to take this test.
日本では、公道使用可能なマフラーを販売したいメーカーはすべて、このテストを受けなくてはなりません。

The new exhaust noise regulation requires noise measuring test during the car is accelerating, not only checking the noise at certain rpm.
新しい音量規制では、一定の回転数で排気音を測るだけでなく加速中の車両の騒音も計測が義務付けられています。


JASMA approved exhausts which passed the strict noise test can be used on the road anywhere in Japan. It is not too much to say, in nowadays, all exhaust manufactures in Japan, including 5ZIGEN, spend most of the time and energy to develop exhaust systems gain horse power with quiet exhaust noise.

先ごろ5ZIGEN Japanに営業車として納車されたばかりの新型フィットとフィットHybridもテスト車両として参加。　たぶん、5ZIGENが新型フィットのマフラーを完成させた最初のメーカーではないでしょうか。

Here is the view from cockpit of the car. The test vehicles launch and pass in front of the speed-gun at certain speed.
こちらは車内からの眺め。　テスト車はここから発進、光電管のあるところまでに基準のスピードで通り過ぎなくてはなりません。

Hope everyone understands this is a reason why Japanese exhausts are expensive...
日本製のマフラーがなんで高いのか、理由の一旦が判って頂けたらうれしいなぁ。
