Silver State 300

GOZIGEN-USA2010-04-28

Today, I like to share some pictures from a motorsport very different from what 5ZIGEN does.
Kiyo of Carbonetics and I drove to Alamo Nevada where about one and half hour north east from Las Vegas to see Sliver State 300 desert race last Saturday, April 24. Silver State 300 is, as the name tells, a 300-mile rally style off-road racing which is a race against the clock occured in south east side of Nevada. The competitors were motocycles, ATVs, buggies and pick-ups.

The race route was circled around the Alamo - Caliente area and finished at south side of Alamo.

5ZIGEN has no parts for these vehicle now. Most of cars and trucks use V8 engines, but some buggies use Honda B-series motors. We may be able to help these racers in near future... I wish it had classes for rally cars, like Lancer Evo, Subaru WRX... so that we can involve more in this kind of racing!!

The town of Caliente where the Pit 5 (service area) was located. Its main street remains Western movie like atmosphere.

Pit service at Caliente - driver and navigator change is allowed -
the access to the cockpit is done from the roof in the case of buggies.

Silver State 300 run through beautiful nature of Nevada where we have no cell phone signal at all. Izumi-san of WPC was here and was chasing the race however we'd never got hold of him until we went back to I-15.

Drift!! at the last hair-pin turn before the finish line

Finish!! - glorious moment after 300 miles of high speed desert race

No side - rivals back to friends after race
Silver State 300 was sanctioned by Best In The Desert. Check their website for more information about their event. They still have four more races in 2010. The biggest and the longest event coming August called TSCO Vegas to Reno(!). Interesting...
